"A self-guided, individual tour through the province of South-Holland "
By bike and barge you will visit famous historical towns and cities with their numerous, well-known places of interest. You will be surprised when you see the small, picturesque towns and the beautiful landscapes in the “Green Heart” of Holland. The Southern tour is the perfect tour to enjoy the variety of landscapes and the various Highlights of Holland.
TOUR DETAILS:
Day 1 (Sat) Arrival in Amsterdam
Afternoon: embarkation in Amsterdam (centre). Explore downtown Amsterdam: time for shopping, to visit a museum or to make a canal tour (until 10 p.m.): this is an unique way to see the capital of Holland from another side.
Day 2 (Sun) During breakfast: Amsterdam – Nigtevecht
Nigtevecht – Breukelen – Utrecht 40 km / 25 miles
Afternoon: Utrecht – Rotterdam
From Nigtevecht along the beautiful small river Vecht. Along the way you can visit a traditional cheese farm. During the bike tour you will see very nice villas, cottages and small castles. Along the river into the centre of Utrecht with its Dom-tower, 111 m. high. In the afternoon continue by ship from Utrecht to Rotterdam.
Day 3 (Mon) Rotterdam-Delft-Scheveningen-Den Haag 40 km/25 miles**
Return by train (Rail+Bike) Den Haag-Rotterdam (ticket not included)
Or: Rotterdam – Delft – Scheveningen – Rotterdam 60 km / 38 miles**
Evening: Rotterdam – Gouda
Cycling tour from over Delft (you can visit the “Royal Delft” Delftware factories), and The Hague (Den Haag), residence of the Queen and Parliament to North Sea resort of Scheveningen. Back to The Hague and continue by train (Rail+Bike: not included) or bike to Rotterdam. “Dinner cruise” to cheese-city Gouda: (arrival approx 8:00 p.m., there is time for a town walk).
Day 4 (Tue) During breakfast: Gouda – Krimpen aan de Lek
Krimpen – Kinderdijk – Schoonhoven 30 - 50 km / 19 - 32 miles**
With the ship from Gouda to Krimpen aan de Lek or optional bike tour already from Gouda. Visit Kinderdijk (Unesco-world culture inheritance) with 19 windmills in one line. Continue bike tour to silver city Schoonhoven at the river Lek.
Day 5 (Wed) Schoonhoven – Oudewater – Utrecht 50 km / 32 miles
Afternoon: Utrecht – Haarlem
Cycle tour through the beautiful polder land to Oudewater (visit the Witches Weigh House) then continue to Utrecht. In the afternoon you sail with the ship to Haarlem. After dinner you can go for a walk through the old town centre of Haarlem.
Day 6 (Thu) Haarlem – North sea coast – Haarlem 35-50 km/22-32 miles**
Afternoon: Haarlem – Zaandam
Round trip from Haarlem through the dunes to Zandvoort or Bloemendaal then along the North Sea coast and through the inland (optional: a stop over in Poldermuseum Cruquius) and back to Haarlem. During dinner you sail with the ship to Zaandam, where you can go for an evening walk.
Day 7 (Fri) Zaandam – Amsterdam 30 km / 19 miles
From Zaandam to the open air museum „Zaanse Schans“ (a.o. traditional wooden houses, windmills, cheese and wooden shoe „clog“ manufacturing). Continue through recreational area „Twiske“ to Amsterdam.
Day 8 (Sat) Amsterdam: Disembarkation
After breakfast: disembarkation and end of tour.

34 cabins, approx. 60-70 guests, Dutch flag and management, 2004/2005 modernized.
Mainly twin cabins (ca. 10 M² = 108 square feet, 2 single beds next to each other), window, private bathroom (shower + toilet), air-conditioning; 22 cabins on lower deck, 12 cabins on upper (top) deck (supplement). Restaurant area, bar, lounge area. Partially roofed sun deck with sitting places and storage room for the bikes.

Included in tour price (all tours):
Boat- & Bike tour: 8 days / 7 nights, start/end Amsterdam in the booked accommodation class;
Full board: 7 x breakfast; 6 x packed lunch for bike tours; 7 x three course dinner on board; coffee and tea on board;
Tour manager + daily instructions;
Maps & tourist information; printed instructions + detailed maps scale 1 : 50.000 or better for daily bike tours (handed out and to be returned on board)
Not included in tour price:
Transfers to/from docking places in Amsterdam, other transfers, parking fee;
rental bicycle (optional); entrance fees & excursions; fees for ferries; drinks on board; personal (travel) insurances; gratuities (at your discretion).
Notes:
Tour manager: the bike tour for the next day will be explained to you every evening after dinner during a briefing.
Availability of single cabins, cabins for 3 or 4 persons, as well as cabins on upper(top) deck are limited: information conc. availability of one of these cabins on the tour dates of your choice only on request. Cabins for 3 or 4 persons have a third and/or fourth bed as bunk bed (above on of the other beds)
Rental bicycle: the bikes on the ships are unisex City bikes with aluminium frame, incl. 7 gears, hand brakes and back-pedal brake and pannier bag. 26 and 28 inch bikes are available. A tire repair kit + pump + small tool kit for bike tours are available. Guests may bring their own bicycles (at no additional charge). In this case crew nor tour operator are liable / responsible for any damage, loss or theft of the own bicycles. Bicycle rent is therefore optional. Prices for other or “special” bicycles (like children’s bikes, tandem bikes, slip streamers/tagalong) and bicycle (back) seats for children on request and (if applicable) at supplementary price
Deposit payment 40% of tour price after reservation, 60 % of tour price as balance payment not later than 42 days prior to start of tour. We will send you an invoice after (confirmation of) reservation.
The “General Conditions of HollandCruises fully apply to all agreements concerning the booking/reservation of an individual Boat & Bike Tour, to rental (full charter) of a crewed barge or traditional sailing ship, incl. cancellation of tours. On request we will send you a free copy of these conditions before you book a tour. These conditions will be sent to you as part of the confirmation of reservation of a tour.
Children are welcome on these tours. Please consider in advance whether your child can ride bike tours of 30 – 60 kilometres per day. Of course you can also stay on board and enjoy sailing during one or more days (Children until 18 years only under supervision.
Inside areas of the ships are non-smoking areas: On the (partially covered) sun deck smoking is allowed. It is prohibited to smoke in the cabins: therefore, all cabins are non-smoking rooms; in salon/restaurant, bar and lounge area guests are requested not to smoke.
